Justified by Faith

August 22nd, 2009

The qualities of a praying person must first begin with faith alone. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” We are justified in Christ by faith and when our faith is rooted in Christ, we can move mountains. The simple fact that you kneel at all – is the first step into practices this faith.

If we say, “I have faith” and yet we worry about everything, then how strong is the faith we claim to hold? In order to cultivate faith, hope, joy, peace and love we must first seek the Lord Jesus Christ. Without God there is no love, there can be no peace, nor hope, nor faith. Faith is a fundamental foundation that must be established in order to follow Christ. By seeking him, we are showing a step of faith since we have never seen him before and yet we believe he exists.

Since we are promised storms in life, and therefore, you know they are sure to come…what is your response? You should jump for joy and sing his praises since he is a God who saves! Rebuke the power of darkness and any stronghold the devil tries to claim on your life. Psalm 119:28, “My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.” Then lift up our Holy Father in prayer, praise and thank him for his glory. We serve an omnipotent God…so worry about nothing for he will take care of all of your needs. Now, I would be a hypocrite is I said I did not worry, but when I do I will fall to my knees ask the Lord to restore my faith in his ability to overcome all things on earth and on my behalf. If you are feeling angry or hateful, ask the Lord to remove those feelings and start praying for goodness to come to the person who is “making” you feel that way. By praying for them, it is hard to be bitter and hateful. Regardless of these many emotions, we must go to the Father to correct, repair and terminate the issues or emotions that have weakened our faith in Christ. Through Christ we can be restored, humbled and at peace through his mighty hand and undying faithfulness.

1 Peter 1:8, “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you have not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

I pray for the Lord to build a significant base of faith in your life. I pray that the Lord mold you into a follower of his kingdom and you are open to his word. God it is hard to stay true to you, it is hard to have faith and give up our burdens to you Lord – But you are an almighty God who can provide salvation and repentance into our lives and store up our faith in you alone. Let us dwell in you and attempted to have if only a drop of faith the way you exude faithfulness to each of us. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven in Jesus Name, Amen.

For Out of the Mouth the Heart Speaks

August 9th, 2009

For Out of the Mouth the Heart Speaks
For out of the overflow of the mouth the heart speaks! Frightening! Think for a moment about the words that you have spoken this week or even the things that you have said today. When you think about those things, imagine those words as a photo of your heart; do you like what you see? When the mouth runs, it influences the whole body.

If we fall victim to our own anger or bitterness our tongue will not be able to control itself. If you find yourself out of control, you must ask yourself who has control over your heart. Through Christ we find peace, humbleness and composure over our heart, and therefore, over our mouth. Do not get me wrong, this composure may not always be ever so present as we are ingrained sinners, but those who belong to Christ are lead by Christ and will receive a change in their heart from God. He has the almighty power to control all things and bless those who seek him. His blessings are many and tangible; we can receive the blessing of personal control, wisdom, strength, forgiveness, healing, love, laughter, joy, prosperity and guidance just to name a few.

From God we receive a meekness that we cannot obtain on our own. As I mentioned in previous posts, in order to receive Christ, all you have to do is ask. When we ask, it changes everything and the first thing that he tackles is our heart. Luke 6:45, “Good people bring good things out of the good stored up in their heart, and evil people bring out the evil stored up in their heart. For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” The uncontrollable remarks you use to make should cease, verbal abuse should become dead to you, and the powers of darkness that once prayed on your weaknesses should be dust under your feet. Through Christ, things are made clear and by seeking him daily, we prepare ourselves for battle with the armor of the Lord. We can no longer stumble around in darkness because he alone will provide light to the world.  John 9:39, Jesus then said, “I came into the world to bring everything into the clear light of day, making all the distinctions clear, so that those who have never seen will see, and those who have made a great pretense of seeing will be exposed as blind.”

It is amazing that what your mouth speaks so your heart has stored within. How many times have you said something and immediately could not believe that it came out of your mouth? We say things so quickly without thinking about what we say that our heart speaks in frightening ways. “Now it is time to change your ways! Turn to face God so he can wipe away your sins, pour out showers of blessing to refresh you and send you the Messiah he prepared for you, Jesus.” Acts 3:19-20. God, praise your name, praise your kingdom for your promise is great, and your love endures forever. Holy Spirit, show your self to me and release me from the strongholds of my tongue. Restore my heart, purify my soul so that I honor you with all that I say and do. Build in me a foundation that fears you oh’ God so that I will build well and receive an obedient heart. In your holy name, Jesus Christ, Amen.
